Happened to me back in college too. PArt of it was stress, having to finish up alot of work that day with a looming deadline. It's not uncommon either, alot of college people were guzzling caffiene to stay awake some nights for studies. (Because of that, some company created a caffienated water product, btw.)
This was also close to summer, and I live in the South so caffiene dehydration isn't a plus.

DP, I'm just kidding around - hope that didn't come out the wrong way. I have family members who are managing pain and I know how difficult it can be. I've had quite a few surgeries and have had to deal with it myself. I had back surgery several years ago and was put on pain meds for almost a year - before and after the surgery. I got VERY addicted to them and had a very hard time once my last prescription ran out. Partly because I abused the medication after building up a tolerance to it. I LOVE codeine and really have to watch myself with that stuff.

as a medic I deal with people with this problem of panic attacks and I can tell you. caffeine is one of the major contributors to panic attacks. it could be a few cups of coffee that causes it. you dont have to "overdose" on it, but the more you drink the more it will occur. I hate to say it but you really need to taper off and try very hard to avoid caffeine as this probably will continue and maybe even get worse each time. a doctor can prescribe Xanax for the attacks, but if it only happens after caffeine, just try quitting.
